The process to get a perfect vector file for running on a print screening machine is

mainly consist of six major steps which are discussed below. The initial step of the

process is to choosing the right software. There are multiple software platforms

which are being used for running a vector file on a print screening. The most

frequently used software programs are Adobe Illustrator and Corel DRAW. These

software programs will allow individuals to create scalable artwork which further    

can retain sharpness at any size without loosing the quality. Going further,

simplicity and clearness of a vector file is key for running on a print screening

machine. Solid colors and clean line should be used in the file. Moreover, to

facilitate the printing process, the vector file should be broken down into distinct

layers for each color. Next step is very crucial because specific color matching is

the requirement of screen printing which should be done very carefully. 


It is important to remember that only pantone color codes should be used for achieving

accuracy and consistency across printing process. Converting text into outline is

highly sensitive step that should also be done very carefully. Font used in vector

file must be converted into outlines or paths for reproducing the text correctly

regardless of weather the printer has font installed. The second last step is to

setting the perfect resolutions and dimensions. However, there is no resolution

limitation in a vector file but the images and raster files in the vector file should be

at least 300 DPI. Finally, the vector file should be saved as an AI, EPS or PDF.

Raster based formats such as JPG or PNG are not recommended because they

won’t produce the desired results.
